Le Vieux Mas is in the centre of the south of France, due north of
Montpellier and west of Avignon. It is in a tiny hamlet called St Michel de
Dèze le Vieux, about 6 km south of le Collet de Dèze, which is
on the N106 roughly half way between Alès and Florac. The nearest large
town is Nîmes, which has a TGV station and airport. For more
details on travel to the area see the getting there
page.
The Cévennes is a wonderful region of southern France. Situated in the
region of Languedoc-Roussillon, it lies between the Mediterranean plains
and the uplands of the Massif Central. Le Vieux Mas lies amongst the
ridges and valleys of the heart of the Cévennes, surrounded by chestnut forest
and Mediterranean woodland. A fantastic area for walking, nature, river
swimming and with a complex history to explore, it also provides a base for
trips to places such as the Tarn Gorges, Pont du Gard, Avignon, Arles and the
Camargue. You can find out more on the local
facilities and links
